Srinagar, March 13 (KNO) : Unidentified gunmen on Wednesday shot dead a civilian in Pinglina village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Reports reaching to KNO said that the civilian identified as Ashiq Ahmad resident of Pinglina Pulwama was fired upon by unidentified persons, resulting in his on spot death. Sources said that the civilian was working in Army but has left his job before some months. However, Army refuted the reports, saying he was a civilian and has never taken oath as a soldier. Defence spokesman told KNO that Showkat Ahmed Naik, son of Mohd Yousuf Naik never took oath as a soldier. He said Naik, resident of Pinglina was enrolled on 15 Jan 2018 in Territorial Army (TA) and went to JAK LI Regimental Center on 21 Mar 2018. He however said that Naik went on three days leave on 14 Sep 2018 but he never returned. “He was declared deserter on 17 September 2018,” he said. The spokesman further said that technically, after being declared deserter during training, he is a civilian. “We have no ex-recruit,” he added.(KNO)
